We specialize in total dedication to the health and care of all our dogs and puppies.
Your puppy may be nervous when you get him.
he/she is no longer experiencing familiar sounds and smells. this will pass shortly. Nervousness or change of diet may cause diarrhea. We strongly recommend that you continue feeding Eukanuba, the food your puppy was weaned on for at least 1 week.  After the first week you may change the food to whatever you prefer. Do it gradually, though.    3-1 for a few days, then 2-1, and so on. We send a small bag of feed with your puppy.

*SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS TO BE AWARE OF

Coccidia: Bright red blood mixed in with stool. Generally is the case with coccidia. the blood also may be due to broken blood vessels when the puppy defecates. As a preventative, we orally administer an Albon/Sulfa/Flagel mixture. We begin this Albon mixture 5 days prior to shipping/delivering and send a 5 day dosage home with your puppy.
Albon is for the treatment of sulfadimethoxine-sensitive bacteria infections in dogs and bacterial enteritis associated with coccidiosis in dogs.
Albon coats the puppies stomach as pepto bismol does for a child. During a stressful time, such as being weaned from their mother, learning to eat on his/her own, new housing, vaccinations, and shipping/traveling, change in climate is when you may notice the above mentioned coccidia.
It is only common sense to give your new puppy rest time. During the first two weeks of getting your puppy home, give the puppy a little time to rest each and every day. They NEED "time out" daily and sometimes you have to make it so! If you have small children wanting to play with your new addition, you must teach them that the puppy needs time to itself, and rest as an infant does.
Always have food and water available 24/7 for your puppy. He/she is fragile, and must be treated like a baby for a few months. Being rough with him/her should be avoided. Caution should be taken when you take him/her outside. Keep your puppy away from public places where other dogs have defecated until they are at least 4 months old.(petsmart, parks,etc...)

Hypoglycemia occurs in small breeds.
Symptoms of hypoglycemia are: white gums, rolled up eyes, inability to stand up straight and seizures. Small breeds can get hypoglycemia overnight. They are very fragile, and can get very sick if they do not eat. NEVER restrict food, the puppy needs to receive a steady stream of nutrients. Hypoglycemia occurs when puppies get stressed and their blood sugar level drops below normal. A dose of Nutri-Cal, honey, or Karo syrup will put the sugar level close to normal. Keep puppy bundled up and warm if this occurs. He/she should come around within 10-15 minutes.
Included with the small bag of Pro-Pac and Albon, we also send a tube of Nutri-Cal. We recommend you give your puppy a small dose of this once a day to prevent tragedy. This will help make sure your puppy is getting the needed sugar and nutrients. This should be continued for 2 weeks, until your puppy is well adjusted.
Also, having a small confined crate is recommended so the puppy cannot travel throughout your home while you are away, or asleep, and end up getting lost, or not being able to find his food/water, or getting into something dangerous.
